2021 Hyundai Elantra Named North America Car of the Year

The 2021 Hyundai Elantra was named North American Car of the Year last month, a huge achievement for the compact sedan. The North American Car of the Year award is perhaps the biggest award any given vehicle can win, and a huge testament to the quality of the winning vehicle.

“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of the entire company, our Alabama and Ulsan plant employees who build Elantra, and our dealers,” said Jose Munoz, the CEO of Hyundai Motor North America. “Elantra is a symbol of our blend of dynamic design, advanced technology, and great fuel economy. Elantra customers are going to experience all of the hard work and dedication that went into making this class-leading car.”

The 2021 Hyundai Elantra was completely redesigned this year starting with the exterior which receives a more chiseled look and distinctive visual elements. The new Elantra also received a new interior and more features inside including an available 10.25-inch centre touchscreen and more Hyundai SafetySense technology. 2021 also welcomes the new Hyundai Elantra N-Line and a range of new powertrain options.

The North American Car of the Year award is decided by a panel of some of the most experienced and decorated automotive journalists from both Canada and the U.S. The cars are tested against their competition and evaluated on a range of criteria that include performance, efficiency, comfort, value, technology, and quality.
