2021 Hyundai Venue vs. 2021 Mazda CX-30: When Efficiency, Value, and Fun Are Important

The Venue brings a unique take on a crossover made for value-oriented budgets. It offers a great platform when venturing through urban landscapes, going on long-distance trips, or having fun with friends. It also has a profile that no other vehicle has, with a style that will never go out of trend. The Venue also has some of the best crossover efficiency on the road, with room inside to boot.

Here, we compare the 2021 Hyundai Venue to a tough competitor—the 2021 Mazda CX-30. This will help you understand the important void the Venue fills in the crossover segment.

The 2021 Hyundai Venue has an eye on efficiency

The Venue features a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder engine that produces 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque. This type of output is great for drivers who want enough power to explore without the impact to the environment and budgets that petrol engines can have.

Most Venue trims have an outstanding fuel consumption rating of 7.9 L/100 km in the city and 7.0 L/100 km on the highway, which is a big difference from the CX-30. The most efficient CX-30 model has a rating of 8.9 L/100 km in the city and 7.1 L/100 km on the highway, but all others range from 9.3-10.5 L/100 km in the city and 7.1-7.9 L/100 km on the highway. If you do much city driving, this will add up to extra emissions and costs.

Just about all Venue models include an Intelligent Variable Transmission which contributes to efficiency more than the CX-30's six-speed automatic transmission. If you want more control over acceleration, the Venue Essential model offers a six-speed manual transmission. The CX-30 does not offer a manual transmission.

The 2021 Hyundai Venue has more value

What's really exciting about the 2021 Venue is the starting MSRP of $17,099. That's significantly lower than the base CX-30 GX that starts at $24,550. As a matter of fact, the top-grade Venue Ultimate has a starting MSRP of $24,999, just a few hundred dollars above the starting MSRP of the CX-30.

The Venue's length is over 350 mm shorter than the CX-30, but it offers a roomy cabin. Front and rear seat occupants have more headroom than the CX-30, and rear seat passengers have more shoulder room. Other dimensions are competitive, too.
