Hyundai Tucson is AJAC Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is the most recent AJAC Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year. The Automotive Journalists Association of Canada named the Tucson its best utility vehicle earlier in March. The completely redesigned Hyundai Tucson was also named the AutoGuide 2022 Utility Vehicle of the Year in March as well.

The redesigned Hyundai Tucson stood out in AJAC’s yearlong testing as well as during competitive testing in October where the Tucson was tested against its direct competitors. The new 2022 Hyundai Tucson stood out for its comfort, its quiet interior, and its impressive safety and value.

"It was a tough competition, and we're excited that one of our best-selling SUVs has earned this recognition from the esteemed AJAC judges," said Don Romano, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada. "This award is extremely meaningful to us because the new Tucson embodies Hyundai's overall green powertrain approach; offering internal combustion, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models in a high-volume compact SUV. With all-wheel drive, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, customers no longer need to choose between all-weather off-road capability and exceptional efficiency.

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is offered in multiple versions with multiple powertrains:

  • Gas-powered models are offered with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque

  • Hybrid models feature a 1.6-litre turbocharged powertrain with a total of 227 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque

  • Plug-in hybrid models feature a 1.6-litre turbocharged powertrain with 261 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV also shines with its impressive 53 kilometres of range in all-electric mode. The Tucson Hybrid also stands out with an average fuel consumption rating of 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres. As for the PHEV model, it offers a combined fuel economy rating of 2.9 litres per 100 kilometres.

The new Tucson is more spacious than the outgoing model and has more cargo space as well with over 1,000 litres of cargo space. Discover the all-new 2022 Hyundai Tucson today at Winnipeg Hyundai!
