Hyundai Unveils Upgraded 2024 Elantra N with Advanced Motorsport Technology

Hyundai announced the launch of the updated 2024 Elantra N. This model, first introduced in 2021, has been re-engineered to incorporate advanced technology from motorsport competition, aiming to enhance its performance, stability, and comfort. The refreshed Elantra N is set to be available at dealers in early 2024.

Enhanced Design and Aesthetics

The 2024 Elantra N features significant design upgrades that contribute to its sporty appeal and functionality. The front bumper fascia and grille have been redesigned, along with dual-projector LED headlamps, to create a more dynamic front profile. The vehicle rides on newly designed 19-inch forged alloy wheels, equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires, and features a redesigned rear bumper fascia and diffuser. These modifications not only elevate the car's appearance but also enhance its aerodynamic performance.

Performance and Handling Innovations

At the core of the Elantra N's updates are several motorsport-derived enhancements that improve overall performance, comfort, and safety. The vehicle includes a reinforced engine-mount membrane for reduced vibrations and enhanced agility. It also features G-bushing reinforcement for better yaw response and steering precision. The Electronic Controlled Suspension (ECS) and the motor-driven power-steering system have been updated with optimized software, further improving the driving experience.

Significant attention has been given to the steering system and gearbox, with improved tolerances for enhanced steering feedback. The introduction of a new, low-friction universal joint and updated software for the power-steering system contributes to a more precise and engaging driving experience. Furthermore, the new standard forged alloy wheels reduce the unsprung weight by 33 lbs compared to the previous design, improving handling response and ride comfort.

Improved Cooling and Powertrain

The 2024 Elantra N showcases an improved cooling system, which efficiently channels airflow to the radiator without compromising aerodynamic efficiency. This includes a duct-style air guard and a motorsports-derived front-bumper air guide that directs air over the braking system for better heat dissipation. The braking system itself is enhanced with upgraded Electronic Stability Control software and additional thermal protection on the front brake lines.

Powering the Elantra N is a 2.0T direct-injected engine, specially developed for N models. It delivers an estimated 276 HP and 289 lb.-ft. of torque to the front wheels. This engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Distinctive Motorsports-inspired Aesthetics

The 2024 Elantra N's exterior is marked by black trim and N-specific red accents on the front and rear bumpers, as well as on the side sill mouldings. These features, along with the bolder bumper design and revised headlamps, provide the vehicle with a dynamic and aggressive look. Additionally, a black-anodized emblem reflecting the N brand's new identity adds to the car's sporty image.
