Pricing Announced for the 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric

Hyundai Canada has set the starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the 2024 Kona Electric at $46,399. This new model, available in two trims – Preferred and Ultimate, is scheduled to hit Hyundai dealerships across Canada this winter. This marks a new addition to Hyundai's electric vehicle lineup, offering consumers a choice between the base and fully-equipped variants to suit different preferences and budgets.

"The Kona Electric has played a major role for Hyundai in our transition towards an electric future. With this new generation model, we are offering more equipment and technology than ever before while maintaining a very competitive pricing strategy", says Steve Flamand, executive director of product, corporate, IT and digital strategy at Hyundai Auto Canada.

Powertrain and Performance

The Kona Electric is equipped with a 64.8 kWh battery and a 150 kW (201 HP) electric motor, promising a Natural Resources Canada-estimated range of 420 kilometres. The vehicle also boasts a fast-charging feature, enabling it to recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 43 minutes with a 400V fast-charging system.

Design and Technology

The vehicle showcases a 12.3-inch touchscreen with the latest infotainment system and is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It comes standard with Hyundai’s Smartsense safety features, 17-inch alloy wheels, and offers distinct features like forward “frunk” storage, active grille shutters, i-PEDAL driving mode, and a Smart Regenerative System. The Ultimate trim enhances the package with a Bose audio system, a head-up display, wireless device charging, and Digital Key technology.

Interior Enhancements

Hyundai has redesigned the interior of the 2024 Kona Electric for increased space and comfort. The shift-by-wire gear selector has been relocated to create more storage space in the console area. The design prioritizes spaciousness, with slimmer front seats and a second-row Curveless Bench Seat, maximizing comfort and space for passengers. The vehicle also offers substantial cargo volume, with up to 1,803 litres available when the rear seatbacks are folded down.

As Hyundai prepares to release the 2024 Kona Electric in Canada this winter, this vehicle represents a blend of innovation, comfort, and efficiency, set at a competitive price point.
